Reception: The Special Dances

One of the things I looked forward to during our wedding were the dances. We thought of taking formal ballroom dancing lessons to surprise our guests during the reception. In the end, we decided to be true to ourselves. We dance together in sync following our own beat.

The songs we chose for the special dances said it all.

First Dance

"Truly, Madly, Deeply" by Savage Garden Father/Daughter Dance:

"You'll Be In My Heart" from "Tarzan"

Mother/Son Dance

"Because You Loved Me" by Celine Dion

Anniversary Dance

Instead of having the bouquet and garter tosses, we had the anniversary dance. During the anniversary dance, married couples danced to a slow tune played by our very competent DJ. A process of elimination ensued, based on how long they've been married. We were the first couple to be eliminated, being the newlyweds that we were.

Funny, it was down to two couples -- both grandaunts and granduncles of mine. Had my dad been present, he and my mom would've won the anniversary dance hands down.

The Last Dance

"When You Wish Upon A Star" by Billy Joel. Our DJ from Power Entertainment DJ Service initiated an endearing "circle of love". The guests encircled us while we danced to the music.
