The Ceremony: Recessional After exchanging promises of forever, we walked the walkway where doves were waiting to be released. Lynn read the text below before the doves were freed. Dove Release The releasing of pure white doves is an ancient ritual that symbolizes many elements of married life: First you will notice the doves are pure white - this represents that the bride and groom begin their life's journey together pure and without regrets of the past. A marriage ceremony does not represent the reaching of a destination - rather the beginning of a journey. The doves will fly higher and higher together as they seek their way home. None will carry each other. Rather they will fly together - yet not so near to each other to disrupt the flight of the others and thus cause a fall. You will see that as they climb to greater heights, they will change from one direction to another until they find their bearing. So too, Cecilia and Eugene can not be certain what tomorrow will bring and their path may change many times along the way. You do not marry for the certainty of the future - rather for faith that you will both be stronger to face tomorrow as you now have the strength of two - and the strength of love. Finally you will see that the doves will find their way home. No matter where they are or where they begin, they will always find their way home. So too, Cecilia and Eugene now always know where 'home' is, as home is where ever they are together. After the dove release, we walked amidst a flurry of bubbles.
